Martin J. Cullen, 80, Of Saddle Brook

SADDLE BROOK, N.J. -- Martin J. Cullen, 80, of Saddle Brook, died Sunday, Nov. 20. He was 80.

He was born in the Bronx; he’s been a resident of Saddle Brook the past 46 years. He was an electrical engineer for Con Edison in New York for 40 years, retiring in 1998. He was a parishoner of St. Philips Church in Saddle Brook, where he loved serving God with the Holy Name Society and enjoyed working Friday night bingo. He loved caring for animals and making bird houses in his garage. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Boston.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, James Cullen and his wife Lisa; siblings, Kevin Cullen and Mary Pellegrino; grandson, Sean Cullen and his wife Ruthe; and great-grandchildren, Dean Jr., Jack and Riley.

There will be a funeral at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Patrick J. Conte Funeral Home Inc., 274 Market St., Elmwood Park. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Philips Church, 488 Saddle River Road, Saddle Brook. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Saddle Brook. Visiting will be from 2-6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
